Kindergarten Reopening

Finally the Kindergarten has opened again, along with 90% of the schools in Namibia. COVID-19 is still very present in Namibia, nevertheless - and fortunately - children can go to school again, of course under certain hygiene measures. As a result, we can restart the Feeding Scheme and provide the children with bread rolls, eggs, and soup.

The rainy season promises a good harvest

The rainy season has been good to Mayana and promises a plentiful harvest. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the rain will continue to fall as it is needed!

The downside is that team members aren't always able to charge their phones via solar thanks to the overcast sky. We're managing to keep communication lines open via WhatsApp messages and voice memos whenever the sky permits it.

In the meantime, we keep our fingers crossed and hope for a very good harvest after the many seasons of drought.

Projects that we fundraise for

In this section, we'll tell you a little bit about one programme or project we are currently fundraising for. We value your support in helping us make change possible through these projects and programmes. This month:

Educational Funding Support (EFS)

MCP provides funds for active members of the Mayana community to further their education: improving their high school diploma grades, pursuing university diplomas or degrees, or vocational training.

EFS is a living investment in the future of the community. We aim to benefit the candidate and the community alike: In order to qualify, a candidate must run a programme in the community for at least one year and plan to build a future in Mayana.

Funding Recipient: Lenhilde

Lenhilde has been a teacher at the Mayana Meho Kindergarten for many years now and is an active member of the Mayana Meho Foundation. She has just started her third year pursuing a diploma in Junior Primary Education at the institute for open Learning in Rundu.

Our fundraising goal for supporting Lenhilde is €1,500.
